Maui Wedding Photography, Destination Weddings

Friday, June 11th, 2010

A Maui destination wedding is one of the best ways to tie the knot. Maui has a large pool of professional photographers, awesome venues, reliable wedding planners and some of the best catering on earth. We were fortunate to have the chance to photograph Candice and Josh at the Haiku Mill, a rustic and beautiful wedding venue on the north shore of Maui. I’m posting a few shots from the wedding from inside the guest house where brides often get ready, as well as some shots from the outside. We have photographed Maui weddings at every major venue in Maui so if you’re looking for a private venue, call us for the photography, we’re well acquainted with the particulars of every location.

Maui Wedding, Kapalua Bay

On June 3rd, 2010 we had the pleasure of photographing Mary Kate and Dan at a morning ceremony on Kapalua Bay Beach. The morning was cool, as is usual and a little cloudy which softens the light and acts like a huge softbox. The wedding was intimate, about 15 guests in attendance and was beautiful.

What about the sunset, you say? Simple, Mary Kate booked us for the next evening, in a different location, to do those shots. The morning wedding gives the family a free day to celebrate and the evening sunset session the next day gives the couple a chance to rest and go at it again.

“How many megapixels is that camera”? That’s a question I always hear. Most people believe that more is better but that’s not necessarily the case. “What format do you shoot”? Might be a better question. Bit depth not mega pixels, determine the quality of the outcome. Many photographers will shoot jpeg’s, a compressed file, and then just dump them onto an online gallery for the free color correction upload. This is a time saver for the photographer which probably relates to a money saver for the client, but at what cost? RAW files are massive and allow for minute, subtle corrections in post production, corrections that can make a good photo look great and on your wedding photos isn’t that what you’re after? We believe in quality. We believe that the extra time we take to tweak your images and create magnificent, archival images is worth our time and protects your investment.
